First ever Malaysian racer in FIM S4 European Cup
Malaysian supermoto racer Khairulamirin Yahaya, who is known as Rin to his friends and race fans, had his first race back from injury at the Supermoto Grand Prix of Lombardia in Italy, at the weekend.
The Malaysian supermoto racer broke his pelvis in June this year whilst training for the final round of the Spanish SM Road championship. It’s been a long road back to fitness and Rin has used the Final GP of the year as his comeback ride.
Rin was determined to become the first ever Malaysian racer to Compete in the S4 European championship and his dream came true over the weekend. Rin was still struggling with the complications from his injuries and it was not easy to move about freely on the bike, especially in the fast chicanes where he had to move from one side of the bike to the other.
Never the less, he put is a solid performance despite being a long way from the race winners pace. Rin managed to finish in 7th and 8th in his two races, which gave him 7th overall at the GP, and 14th overall in the final championship standings, despite only competing at one of the three round series.
The results are just what Rin needed and now he will be training hard over the winter to be fully fit for a return the Spanish and European championships in 2022 with the Supermotoland Husqvarna race team.
